Fitting Through a Fort Wayne Winter

The course season around Fort Wayne runs roughly April through October. That leaves a long stretch of the year where every fitting and build happens entirely indoors — and cold weather still finds ways to affect a build even when you never leave the bay.

Golfers sometimes assume an indoor studio is unaffected by winter, since no one's standing outside in the cold. The bench itself is climate-controlled, but component storage, epoxy behavior, and even grip material respond to temperature and humidity swings more than most golfers expect.

Epoxy Cure Times Shift With Temperature

Epoxy cures more slowly in cooler ambient conditions, even indoors near an exterior wall in January. We track shop temperature through the winter and adjust cure windows accordingly, rather than assuming a fixed 24-hour cure regardless of season — a build epoxied too early is the single most common cause of a shaft working loose in the hosel.

Grip Stock Needs to Acclimate

New grip stock shipped in during cold months arrives stiffer than it will be once it sits at studio temperature for a day or two. We let incoming grips acclimate before winding them, since installing a cold, stiff grip can affect final tack and feel once it warms back up.

Nothing about the build changes because it's winter — but the timing around it does.

Indoor Season Means Booking Fills Faster

With no outdoor course access for several months, indoor fitting bays see heavier demand from November through March. We recommend booking iron set and full bag fittings a bit further ahead during that stretch, since single-club appointments are easier to slot in on shorter notice.

What Doesn't Change

Frequency and swingweight verification happen the same way year-round, and every build still gets the same final bench check before it goes home with you — winter conditions affect timing, not the standard we build to.
